Eucharist
The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. (CCC 1324)
BELIEVE,
CELEBRATE,
LIVE THE EUCHARIST
Pope John Paul II's Encyclical for the Year of the Eucharist stated, "The Mass needs to be set as the center of the Christian life and celebrated in a dignified manner by every community..." Another way of saying it could be "You can't truly be Catholic without participating fully, regularly, actively and consciously in the Mass, which includes the Eucharist."
The Eucharist is the "source" and "summit" of our Catholic Christian life because it contains Christ himself and is the central act of worship from which all other sacraments and ministries flow. Eucharist is the real presence of the Body of Christ which, when we partake transforms us more fully into the Body of Christ, sending us out into the world to carry on the work of Jesus Christ. We then return to the Mass and offering up all that we are onto the Eucharistic table with thanksgiving. We are again sent out (the meaning of the Mass) to again bring the life of Christ into the world.
