Black Catholic Advisory Circle - Archdiocese of Seattle

 

The Black Catholic Advisory Circle is commissioned to bring the richness of Catholicism to the people of African descent and the richness of Black heritage to the Catholic Church.

MISSION

We the people of God, of African descent, affirm our gifts and contributions to the Archdiocese of Seattle.  Our focus is to share our gifts, tell our stories, promote lay leadership and develop outreach ministry to promote social justice through evangelization.

This event honors the lives of two Holy men and four Holy women during Black Catholic History Month.

JULIA GREELEY (bet 1833-1848—1918)
SR. THEA BOWMAN  (1937-1990)
PIERRE TOUSSAINT (1766-1853)
FR. AUGUSTUS TOLTON (1854-1897

Our presenter is Fr. A. Gerard  Jordan, O'Praem.  He is a member of the Order of Canons Regular of Premontre at Daylesford.  He is appointed as Special Assistant to the Bishop and Diocesan Postulator for the Cause of the Canonization for Venerable, Father Augustus Tolton.
